Students from our Horticulture course in Drogheda are 4 months into their year-long programme.

They have already learned many new skills from a highly experienced tutor delivering the training through our course partners, National Learning Network.

This course started in a recently renovated site in Mallaghcrone on 1st February 2016. It has been transformed by the students and tutor with poly tunnels displaying a range of seasonal vegetables and fruit trees along with a range of plants, trees and shrubs.

There are currently 14 participants on this course which runs 5 days per week. Learners go to local Employers once a week for work experience.

The areas covered on this course are plant science, plant protection, soil science and growing, plant identification and plant propagation, fruit and vegetable production, safety and health at work, communications and work experience.

Upon successful completion of these modules students will achieve a QQI Major Award Level 5 in Horticulture. This qualification will enable them to secure employment or progress to futher education and training.
